A Change in Focus ~ July 20
Written By Trish Duggan
This is both difficult to write and even harder to comprehend. Tim received an update this week from the liver transplant team, and we wanted to share it with you so that you can continue to pray with us in our new reality.
After a group consultation and a thorough review of Tim’s recent MRI, the transplant team made the heartbreaking decision to remove him from eligibility for a living liver donor. After closely examining the images and having extensive discussions, the doctors concluded that Tim simply does not have enough remaining healthy liver tissue to safely support a living donor transplant. Further complicating the situation and potential surgery, his liver has fused to his lung.
We’re still in shock—stunned and grieving this news. While we trust Tim’s medical team and know they did not make this decision lightly, this was difficult news to receive.
Tim will remain on the deceased donor list, but as we understand it, that list is long and filled with others in similar need. Even so, our hope remains in a loving and powerful God.
We want to express our deepest gratitude to those who took the time to be tested as potential living donors. While HIPAA regulations prevent us from knowing who you are, please know how much your willingness and sacrificial spirit has meant to us. We truly wish we could thank you personally.
Though we’re still processing this unexpected and painful shift, we remain confident in God’s providence. His plan is perfect, and His presence is sure—even now.
Tim has been encouraged to pursue a second opinion, and we will keep you posted on that.
Please continue to pray for Tim, his family, and all those waiting and hoping for the gift of life through organ donation. It may be a little while before we post again, but we’ll make every effort to keep you updated as new information comes in.
There aren’t enough words to say thank you for walking this road with us. While we are no longer seeking a living liver donor, we plan to keep this site live and updated as any new developments arise.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18:
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
