Do you ever find the Bible overwhelming?
Do you ever open up the Bible and wonder, what is this talking about?
When did this happen, and what does this mean?
The fact is, the Bible is a big book—a really big book–an epic book–and sometimes we struggle to understand it and to wrap our arms around it. The fact is, it’s easy to get lost in the weeds, and to miss the forest for the trees.
Understanding the Message of the Bible
At New Hope Presbyterian Church in Bridgeton, NJ, we’re beginning a new sermon series entitled, “Understanding the Message of the Bible”, and our goal in this series is to start by trying to understand the basic message of each individual book. If we can understand the overall message of the book of Genesis, and then the book of Exodus, and then Leviticus, and so on, then we can better understand how all the books of the Bible fit together, and perhaps then we can better understand the message of the Bible as a whole.
So, each week we’re going to look at a different passage of Scripture that summarizes or epitomizes the overall message of a book of the Bible. I hope you’ll join us!
