No one person can fully represent everything that God is (well, except for Jesus!), but our fathers should remind us of some of God’s important qualities. Like our fathers, God cares of us; He provides for us, He protects us, He disciplines us, He teaches us, He comforts us, and He leads us. Take time today to thank God for your earthly father and for the father-figures in your life; more importantly, remember that our Heavenly Father is even greater. Earthly fathers are imperfect; God our heavenly Father does all things well!
“What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” (Luke 11:11-13 ESV)
