Strong Reformed Teaching of God's Word

New Hope Presbyterian Church is committed to the thorough, systematic preaching and teaching of God’s Word to equip believers and to challenge unbelievers.

Beginning with the conviction that only God’s Word is truly able to change us—to free us from our limited and (often self-centered) perspective and to lead us to look in humble repentance and faith to Jesus Christ.

Believing—along with the apostle Paul—that “all Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness”, and therefore we work systematically through all of the Bible (not just the easy parts!), knowing that a healthy spiritual diet will include both the Old and New Testaments, both the law and gospel.

Approaching all Scripture from a pastoral, Christ-centered perspective, knowing that all Scripture was written to instruct us and to lead us to Christ. We always seek to make the meaning, relevance, and application of each passage clear to all.

Finally, we approach God’s Word from a Reformed perspective, which means that we believe in historic, biblical Christianity as believed and confessed by the historic Christian church and as exemplified during the Reformation.

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
Hebrews 4:12 ESV

“…Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.”
2 Timothy 4:2 ESV
