Obituary for Robert A Gramp
Robert A. Gramp, 87, of Bridgeton, NJ, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A New Year’s baby, he was born on January 1, 1938 to the late Eleanor (King) and Alfred Gramp in Atlantic City, NJ.
Robert lived a life defined by faith, family, learning, and music. A lifelong scholar and teacher, he received advanced degrees in mathematics and Biblical study from Virginia Tech, Temple University, and Westminster Theological Seminary. He went on to serve for ten years as the Pastor at Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church, and later brought energy and encouragement to many as a fitness instructor at the Vineland Center for Health & Fitness, where he taught aerobics classes. Never losing his passion for teaching and growing, Robert also taught at Cumberland Christian School before he eventually retired as a math teacher from Cumberland Regional High School.
An accomplished pianist and organist, Robert had a deep love for classical music and dark chocolate. He performed in many local concerts and loved playing the piano and organ at New Hope Presbyterian Church in Bridgeton. His curiosity and intellect led him to master several languages with particular enjoyment of both Hebrew and German. Robert also enjoyed the opportunity to travel, particularly to Hawaii, where he visited several times. Above all else, Robert cherished time with his family. He found his greatest joy in the company of his children and grandchildren.
Robert is survived by his six children: sons Thomas (Barb), Jonathan (Carol), and Timothy (Amy) Gramp; daughters Kimberly Jobes, Rachel Palumbo (Ken), and Mandy Waldron (Michael); and his grandchildren Ryan Gramp, Caelah Palumbo, Jovani Palumbo, Walter Pierce V, Aiden Waldron, Timothy Gramp Jr, Gilbert Gramp, Lucille Gramp, and Zachary Joyce.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Eleanor Gramp, and his two brothers, Douglas Gramp and Alfred Gramp Jr.
A memorial service to honor Robert’s life will be held Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 10AM at the New Hope Presbyterian Church located on 65 Hitchner Avenue in Hopewell Township
