Tim Receives a Liver!

What a Difference a Year Makes

On April 8, 2026, God graciously provided Tim Milchling with a new liver through what doctors described as a long and difficult two-day surgery. Rarely do you hear stories like this one, and Christ alone is to be praised for what can only be described as a miracle for Tim and his family.

In the July 2025 issue of the Mercy Minute, we introduced you to New Hope OPC member and deacon-nominee Tim Milchling, a husband and father of three who was in desperate need of a new liver due to complications stemming from liver cancer he battled as a three-year-old child.

After years of vague symptoms, a persistent cough eventually revealed serious complications connected to what was later identified as a failing liver condition. Over many difficult months, Tim endured severe fatigue, painful abscesses, numerous tests and procedures, worsening symptoms, and the uncertainty of waiting for a transplant. Although several individuals were evaluated as potential living donors, Tim ultimately learned that a living donor transplant was not possible because of the complexity of his condition.

Despite many disappointments, worsening health, and two calls to the hospital that ended without transplant, Tim and his family continued to trust in the Lord’s care and provision. Nearly a year after that long and difficult journey, Tim received the gift of a new liver. After several weeks in the hospital and a procedure to address a minor complication, he was discharged and is now home, after a month-long stay at a house nearby the hospital. He continues to recover well and doctors will closely monitor his condition for signs of rejection. Praise the Lord for His goodness!

The Milchling family is both humbled and grateful for the love shown to them through your prayers and generous gifts throughout this difficult journey. Please continue to pray for strength, healing and protection from rejection for Tim, and for strength for Geneva as she cares for their family.

Please pray for the many others who suffer each day waiting and wondering if organ donation will save their lives, and for the families whose loved ones have generously given this gift to others.
