Why pray?
We saw last week that God calls us to diligent, fervent, persevering prayer. However, not only does He command us to pray, but He also promises to hear our prayers when we come to Him through the work of Christ!
Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. (Jeremiah 29:12 ESV)
And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. (1 John 5:14 ESV)
We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does his will, God listens to him. (John 9:31 ESV)
The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous. (Proverbs 15:29 ESV)
Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan, and he hears my voice. (Psalm 55:17 ESV)
