Are you ashamed to sing?
Are you embarrassed because you don’t have a great voice?
Perhaps the tune is unfamiliar or difficult, or perhaps you just feel self-conscious about singing in public. Worship is all about stepping outside of yourself; it is about self-forgetfulness. It’s not that we want to be embarrassed, or sing off-key, or sing poorly; it’s that the glory and praise of Christ is more important and worth the risk. If Jesus went to the cross for us, in spite of the horrible shame of being associated with criminals and thieves, then we can and should lift up our voices for Him.
Come, let us sing to the Lord (Psalm 95:1 ESV)
