Dear New Hope family,
As you probably know, due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus, Governor Murphy has issued a statewide curfew limiting gatherings to 50 people or less, and the President has issued guidelines that individuals should avoid gatherings of 10 or more people.
Therefore New Hope has postponed all official church activities through at least April 1st, at which time we’ll revisit the issue.
We are taking this step out of respect for those in authority and out of concern for the health of our members and our community; nevertheless, we can be thankful that the spread of the virus in Cumberland and Salem County seems to be minimal, at best. According to the NJ Department of Health, there are no known cases in either county at this time.
We encourage everyone to stay home as much as possible; if you have to go out, wash your hands regularly, use hand sanitizer, avoid touching your face, cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze, and practice “social distancing” as recommended by medical authorities. We do this as much for the sake of others—including the most vulnerable—as we do for ourselves. Those who are sick, who have compromised immune systems, or who are elderly should be especially cautious.
Let this be a time of love and ministry: remember those among us who are especially isolated–send notes, emails, cards, and texts, or just give them a call. Keep one another in prayer.
We will be in touch with you over the next few weeks via email; the elders and deacons will also be checking on some of the members of the congregation who might be in need. If you have any needs, or if you’re aware of anyone who might have needs, please don’t hesitate to contact me or one of the other officers.
We will also be working to provide a worship service or at least a message that you can enjoy online this Sunday. We will be back in touch with you via email regarding this when we have more information.
The Lord is faithful, and we are confident that He will bring us through this as He brings us through all things. To Him be the glory!
