The snow is going away and Spring is just around the corner. It’s time to get rid of that cabin fever and volunteer for ESL classes again.
If you have volunteered before you know how fun and rewarding helping with this ministry can be. If you have always wanted to help, but thought, “I don’t speak Spanish”, fear not. If you speak English, you are qualified.
There is a signup sheet on the bulletin board at church or leave a comment here on the site for more information. thanks
Pastor Claude said he will personally bake a cupcake for the first ten people who sign up. *
* just kidding about Pastor Claude making the cupcakes 😉
It has been a special privilege and a gratifying experience to be an English speaker at the ESL classes in the past. It can be a little intimidating to expect to help the ESL students to learn English when you can’t communicate with them in their native Spanish language. However, when at the end of a 2 hour training session a student(s) express personally their heart felt thank you………… you leave with an indescribable joy!
You come to understand that the volunteer time spent helping these dear people to learn English is so vital to their having a better life in the USA. They are a conscientious and hard working people who in most cases have come to America to stay and a hope to become US citizens.
These are also great opportunities to build relationships that can open an opportunity to share one’s personal faith in Christ.
