“With respect to the assurance of salvation there are four types of people.
(1) Some are not saved and they know that they are not saved.
(2) Some are saved and have the full assurance of their state of redemption. They are saved, and they know they are saved.
(3) Some are saved but are not sure of their state. Their souls are restless. It is quite easy to understand those three categories. It is the fourth that muddies the water.
(4) Some are not saved but think they are saved. They  have assurance of salvation, which salvation they most assuredly do not possess; their assurance is a false assurance.”
~(R.C. Sproul)

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ ”  Matthew 7:21-23
