A Good Word for Today: Grace
from Pastor Claude Taylor

We often associate religion with rules—do this, don’t do that. Or, we associate religion with guilt—“you’re a bad person.” Perhaps you associate religion with narrow-mindedness, superstition, anti-intellectualism, or even fanaticism. Maybe in your mind religion is outdated and irrelevant.

I would like to suggest to you a word that is central to Christianity—“Grace.” Grace is giving or receiving better than deserved–a blessing instead of a curse, a smile when a frown is expected. Jesus came to give us grace. Why live under the burden of guilt? Why saddle others with the weight of your expectations and disapproval? Receive the grace of God in Jesus Christ. Show somebody grace today.

“Grace and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 1:3

“A Good Word for Today” is a bi-weekly devotional of Pastor Claude Taylor and New Hope Presbyterian Church.
