In every conflict there is tension, which can be healthy or unhealthy! Healthy tension brings people, ideas, and goals together; unhealthy tension pulls people, ideas, and goals apart. Examine any conflict you might be experiencing, being on the lookout for these 4 kinds of unhealthy tension:

Communication Tension: Do you have a lack of (or poor) communication?

Resource Tension: Are you fighting over resources?

Tension Caused by Sinful or Bad Behavior: Have one or both of you engaged in sinful or bad behavior?

Tension Over Differences: Are you disrespecting each other’s differences?

Remember your peacemaking principles, and look to Christ as you seek to turn your unhealthy tension into healthy tension!
(Adapted from Peacemaker Training, by P. Brian Noble)

“For He Himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in His flesh the dividing wall of hostility.” (Ephesians 2:14)
