Through the centuries, God’s people have been remarkably resilient; from the nomadic lifestyle of shepherds to the hardship of slavery in Egypt; from farming in ancient Israel to exile in Babylon; from life in the Roman Empire to 21st century life today—God’s people have always demonstrated the ability to adjust and adapt. And yet—change seldom comes easy. The Bible tells us, “ask for the ancient paths” (Jeremiah 6:16), but it also says, “Say not, ‘Why were the former days better than these?’“ (Ecclesiastes 7:10).  In today’s rapidly changing world, what things do we hold on to, and what things should we let go of? What changes should we accept, and what changes should we resist?

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
(Proverbs 3:5,6 ESV)
