The David Haney Board Room
An alumnus of Dordt, David Haney served the institution as a board member from 2012-2019 and as the Board Chair from October 2016 until his death on August 16, 2019 at the age of 56. Following his passing, a fellow trustee reflected on David’s board leadership and his selection as chair with these words:
“ In an environment full of leaders, David was, by universal acclamation, our chair. That was not because he took up the mantle of leadership, but because he led in the manner of Christ-as a servant. Just as Jesus taught his disciples through the towel and basin by washing their feet, David lived and served with wisdom, vision, humility, genuine care, a gentle presence. and sincere attention to those around him. More than that, David always pointed people and institutions to Christ, in whose Spirit he served.”
David’s full-time vocational work was as a senior leader in various roles for the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC) helping many congregations and ministries of the OPC thrive. It is with gratitude to God for David contributions to Dordt University and in acknowledgment of his extraordinary life of kingdom service, the board of trustees designate this “The David Haney Board Room.”
Dear New Hope Family,
I thought you might enjoy photos of the David Haney Board Room at Dordt University, where elder Haney served on the Board of Trustees until the time of his passing. It’s a beautiful room and a wonderful tribute to our dear brother.
