What excites you the most? What do you enjoy more than anything? What do you find to be the most interesting, stimulating, compelling, and attractive to you? What do you want more than anything else? One way to answer those questions is to ask, what do you find yourself thinking about? What do you worry about? What do you focus or dwell on? What do you daydream about? Whatever we focus on reveals where our heart is. The more our focus is on Jesus, the more we will love Him, and vice versa.
When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished,”
and He bowed His head and gave up His spirit. John 19:30
This is so true. At first, teaching myself to read through the Bible in a year was hard. So hard! Taking time out every day to read the Bible! But what I found was, not only did it get easier as I persevered, but I began to miss my times in God’s Word when I didn’t read for a day. I also found God teaching me lots and lots of things. His Word NEVER gets boring! Passages you may have read ten times still have things to teach you on the eleventh reading. Spending all that time in God’s Word also helps me to keep my focus on Jesus more during daily life. I need that. Otherwise, it’s pretty much all about me. Praise God for His blessings to us in His Word!
