Why should you attend worship?

1.The first purpose of Christian worship is thanksgiving. It is the glad response of Christians to the holy, redemptive love of God made known in Jesus Christ. “We love, because He first loved us.” (1 John 4:19)…Worship is, therefore, the glad acknowledgement of God’s love in Christ.

2.If worship is primarily an offering, it is necessarily the offering of the Church, not the offering of a collection of individuals. “We, who are many, are one body in Christ.”….The Christian is not called to serve God alone on a desert island, like Robinson Crusoe.

3.The third purpose of Christian worship is edification. By attendance at the worship of the church the Christian is built up in the faith and love and hope of the Christian life. This is his time of discipleship.

4. The worship of the Church is the stimulus to the Christian life in the world. The service of God leads inevitably to the service of men for God’s sake. Indeed, this is worship in its widest sense, the offering of man’s life in the Church and in the world to the glory of God.~ Horton Davies

“Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”  Hebrews 10:25
